NYC weather had been sub par up until Memorial Day Weekend when suddenly it was summer. Cue me panicking that I had no summer shoes.
To be fair, I was actually experiencing a shoe shortage. Other than 5-6″ sandals and wedges, I had one pair of flat sandals. That’s a pretty big crisis.
Now shoe shopping has never been the easiest for me. I am 5’9″ and with height comes big feet. My true size is 10.5 but since most shoe brands are assholes and stop making half sized after 9.5, I wear a 10 or 11 depending on the style/brand.
In addition to my sizing struggles, I am also SUPER picky about flats (shocking, I know). I refuse to buy anything where the sole is just a hard flat piece of plastic or wood. I require some sort of cushioning – especially with all the walking that comes with living and working in NYC.
So here is where I netted out…
Two pairs is obviously not enough, so I am patiently (yeah right) awaiting for the shoes below from the UPS fairy…
The classic Sam Edelman – ‘ Gigi’ Sandal is always one of my go-tos (I already own a ivory/olive/black tri-color pair so I ordered the saddle to have a basic).
This next one I am definitely going to have follow up feedback on once my order arrives. I was looking for a sandal that is comfortable enough to walk to work in and love when old styles become cool again.
But I am just not sure how these Birks are going to look on my giant feet. Share opinions please!
Still on the wish list…
