“Fashion is the most powerful art there is. It’s movement, design and architecture all in one. It shows the world who we are and who we’d like to be.”
Welcome to my new mini-series about mastering the art of shopping.
In my first post on this blog last September, I made some promises. Hell, the title was “shop like you MEAN it” and I think it’s about time I start sharing my insights how how to do just that. From here on out, every Wednesday I will be sharing one new shopping or fashion tip from my personal experiences. Basically The Bible According to ShopaholicProbz.
Do you want to follow the trends or set them? If you are anything like me, you know the latter option is the right answer. Fashion “rules” are outdated. I am by no means saying that just by breaking these so-called fashion “rules” you are automatically a trendsetter. But rather, that you shouldn’t feel pressure to buy a specific piece just because it’s “on trend” or feel like you can’t wear white after Labor Day (that rule has long been eliminated – ummm hello winter whites).
The expression of individuality is what differentiates style from fashion. In the words of Rachel Zoe, “Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak”. Style is about YOU so keep that in mind as you are shopping and building your wardrobe.
Does it make you feel good about yourself? Buy it. Does it perfectly express your personality? Buy it. Does it simply make you happy? Buy it.
Don’t let anyone (even me) tell you what to wear or not to wear. Basically, just DO YOU.
While I can’t tell you what to wear, I can tell you how I shop – which has led to a personal wardrobe I am proud of but certainly not finished with.
Ready to get on my level? Let the adventure begin.
Shop like you mean it.
